Chau Doc and Tra Su in three days and two nights: a balanced route
Three days and two nights can give Chau Doc’s sacred sites and Tra Su forest separate, unhurried places in the trip. Use one day around the Sam Mountain foothills, one for the forest excursion and a lighter arrival or departure day near your base. Tra Su is in nearby An Cu commune, not central Chau Doc; do not treat it as a quick stop between every other attraction.

State what the three days actually include
This example assumes three usable days in the area and two hotel nights. It does not include an automatic extra day travelling from your home city. Record arrival and departure times before assigning activities. Choose one base if it reduces repeated packing, then confirm the forest pickup and return arrangements. If day one is mostly intercity travel, leave the foothill visit for the next usable block and remove an optional stop.
Day one: arrive and choose a compact cultural block
After leaving bags and resting, choose Miếu Bà Chúa Xứ or Tây An Pagoda as the main foothill visit, adding a neighbouring memorial only if the group is comfortable. Ask about the entrance route rather than assuming the entire cluster is level. Keep the evening for a meal and rest. Festival crowds can change access and pickup points, so agree on a meeting place that the driver is actually allowed to reach.
Day two: make Tra Su the main excursion
Check current forest access and the available visitor activities before setting out. A 2026 official report locates the forest in An Cu commune and discusses dry-season fire precautions; older material may still show Văn Giáo or Tịnh Biên addresses. Share the current entrance pin with your driver. Do not interpret a seasonal photograph of a flooded forest as a promise of identical water levels, green cover or a particular boat route on your date.
Keep the forest visit conditional on conditions
Confirm the transport, admission and any boat element separately, including what happens if an activity is suspended. Follow staff instructions, keep noise low near wildlife and carry out rubbish. Use the agreed visitor route rather than seeking an unofficial shortcut into vegetation. If weather, fire precautions or operational restrictions prevent the planned visit, replace it with a safe activity near your base or rest; a different unverified water outing is not a reliable fallback.
Day three: choose the river area or a pre-arranged community visit
A market visit and time by the river can suit a short final day. If a Cham-community visit in Châu Phong matters more, arrange it in advance and let it replace the market block. Ask about permission for religious and private spaces and for photographs. Keep the departure transfer separate from the excursion, with bags ready and the pickup agreed. An early connection may leave no time for another visit at all.
Leave the wider region for a deliberate extension
Do not add Núi Cấm, a full Tịnh Biên shopping trip and multiple Bảy Núi stops to the same forest day merely because they appear in regional tourism material. Each adds its own transfer, access and rest requirements. Compare the extra travel with the experience you would lose at Tra Su. Budget two accommodation nights, three days of meals as actually needed, intercity transport and the confirmed local activities; prices should come from current quotes, not a copied package total.
