Vietnam Entry Documents: Check Each Traveller Separately

Make a separate document checklist for every traveller. Record the passport they will use, trip purpose, dates and entry and exit points. Travelling together does not establish identical requirements. Government advice may address a specific passport category: the UK Vietnam entry page explicitly states its British-passport scope.

Ask the Vietnamese immigration authority or appropriate Vietnamese embassy what applies to each passport and journey. Check passport condition and validity, the relevant entry permission and any current declarations. Do not turn a rule found for one nationality into a universal number of visa-free days.

Review the whole journey with your airline or other carrier, including transit countries and any change between international and domestic travel. For children or different family names, ask which supporting documents, if any, apply to your circumstances. Do not assume a ticket seller has completed this check for you.

Keep required documents accessible and private, and compare names and dates across bookings and issued permissions. If a passport is renewed or the route changes, recheck before departure. This is a preparation framework, not a determination of admission. VietnamGuide can organise your questions without needing passport images in chat.
