Passenger boat or road to Vung Tau: which fits your trip?
Take the passenger boat to Vũng Tàu when its confirmed sailing and terminal transfers suit your day; choose road transport when its pickup and flexibility fit better. Neither is automatically fastest door to door. A passenger-boat ticket does not mean you can bring a motorcycle or car aboard.

Check current operation, not an old closure headline
GreenlinesDP announced a temporary suspension from 14 to 16 September 2026 for pontoon maintenance, with service restarting on 17 September. That notice does not establish seats or sailings on your travel date, and it is not evidence of permanent closure. Check the operator’s current departure and arrival terminals, check-in requirement, luggage policy and return availability. Do not reuse an old timetable as a current guarantee.
Compare the complete journey
For the boat, include reaching the departure terminal and traveling from the arrival terminal to your accommodation. Consider motion discomfort and how weather disruption affects a fixed return. For the road, compare the actual pickup, final drop-off and traffic risk. Travelers carrying bulky luggage or accompanying someone with limited mobility should confirm handling and boarding access, rather than infer suitability from a photograph or the word “high-speed.”
Know when a ferry is a different choice
The Cần Giờ–Vũng Tàu vehicle ferry is a different service from the GreenlinesDP passenger route. Do not transfer one operator’s fare, boarding rules or last departure to the other. Verify any intended vehicle-ferry journey with its current operator; a proposed sea-crossing road is not an already open driving route. Keep a practical alternative if your booked boat is canceled, and check cancellation and replacement arrangements before committing to inflexible onward travel.
