Packing for Lý Sơn: light luggage for boats, rock and sun

Pack for the transfers and surfaces you will encounter, then remove items that depend on activities you have not booked. A compact bag is easier to manage while boarding and moving to your room. Keep essential items with you even if a larger bag is handled separately, and confirm the actual carrier's luggage limits.

Build a small boarding bag

Place identification, tickets, payment essentials, accommodation details and personal medication in an accessible splash-resistant pouch or bag. Carry drinking water and a light snack if suitable for your journey. Keep a spare layer or clothes where you can reach them without unpacking everything. Ask the operator about size, weight and prohibited items instead of assuming mainland ferry and Đảo Bé boat rules are identical.

Choose footwear for the intended walk

Bring comfortable shoes or sandals with dependable grip for ordinary roads and uneven approaches. Smooth fashion soles are poorly suited to wet stone. Footwear does not make cliff edges, submerged rock or an unmarked shore route safe, so keep to permitted areas and change the plan when surfaces are slippery. Avoid carrying several specialist pairs for outings you may not undertake.

Cover sun and rain without bulk

A hat that stays secure, sun protection, breathable clothing and a lightweight rain layer cover different conditions. Protect your phone and spare clothes from spray as well as rain. Take a reusable bottle and refill it only from a suitable drinking-water source; do not assume a reservoir or any available tap is potable. Bring a small rubbish bag to carry packaging back.

Add equipment only after confirmation

For a booked water activity, ask what equipment is provided, how sizing works and what you must bring yourself. Packing a mask does not establish that snorkeling is permitted or suitable that day. A power bank, charging cable and compact personal necessities are useful; oversized extras create work at every transfer. If leaving bags behind, obtain the accommodation's agreement about storage and collection first.
