When to visit Lý Sơn: choose for the sea and your priorities
There is no single month that makes every Lý Sơn experience reliable. A visitor who wants coastal walks can accept different conditions from someone whose main goal is an Đảo Bé crossing. Choose your priority first, then compare a seasonal window with the actual marine outlook and the flexibility of your travel arrangements.

What the drier window tells you
March to August is commonly used as the nominal drier-season planning window. Treat that as broad context, not a forecast for a particular departure. Heat, showers, wind and changing sea conditions can still affect the trip. A sunny land forecast cannot establish whether a ferry will sail or a beach visit will be suitable.
Match the season to the activity
For viewpoints and village visits, plan early or later outings with shade and rest between them. For an Đảo Bé excursion, allow another possible day rather than making it the final essential activity. Photography depends on cloud and light; swimming or snorkeling needs its own local assessment and cannot be promised by a month name.
Make reservations fit the uncertainty
Before paying, compare room cancellation terms and ferry change conditions for the actual dates. The marine crossing and your flight or train are separate commitments unless the seller explicitly states otherwise. If missing the onward connection would be costly, returning to the mainland the previous day can be a sensible planning choice.
Decide again near departure
Read the latest national marine bulletin for the Quảng Ngãi sea area and its issue and validity times, then confirm with the port and operating carrier. Ask about both directions. Keep a mainland alternative that you would genuinely enjoy. Seasonal averages can help select a week; current notices and your own comfort determine whether to use it.
