Ly Son in 5 days and 4 nights: a slower stay, with or without a Dao Be night
Five days and four nights suit travelers who enjoy repeated time in a place, not those expecting a different major attraction every day. Big Island makes the simpler base because it avoids repeated luggage transfers. Build in rest, local food and cultural context; an optional night on Dao Be should replace one Big Island night, never quietly become a fifth night.

Days 1 and 2: settle in and separate the coastlines
Use arrival day for settling into your accommodation and a short western outing around To Vo if you feel rested. Give the next day to the eastern landscape: select Hang Cau, an appropriate Thoi Loi viewpoint or Chua Hang according to access, weather and mobility. Leave time between visits rather than turning the longer stay into a faster sightseeing race.
Day 3: choose a Dao Be day or a considered overnight
A day visit is easiest when you want to return to familiar accommodation. For an overnight, confirm both boat legs, a suitable room, meals and domestic-water arrangements with the host. A dated local report raised water-infrastructure concerns in Bac An Binh; it does not establish every property’s current condition. Keep the overall reservation at four nights by replacing, not adding to, a main-island night.
Day 4: leave the small island and slow the pace
If you stayed on Dao Be, plan to return to Big Island today rather than relying on a last-day crossing. Otherwise, use the day for a confirmed maritime-heritage visit, an agreed farm encounter or a food-focused village walk. A quiet afternoon is a legitimate part of the itinerary. Do not invent a workshop, museum service or harvest experience just to fill the calendar.
Day 5: departure and the variety question
Keep the final day near your base and the correct mainland-ferry terminal, with time for checkout and revised operating information. Four nights on an island do not guarantee protection from a prolonged weather disruption. If your group needs constant new entertainment, a shorter Ly Son stay with mainland time may be the better choice. Judge the longer plan by its pace and resilience, not by how many landmarks it contains.
